ON what should have been his first time chairing a meeting of the council’s policy and resources committee, SDLP man Malachy Quinn found himself instead at a much more important appointment.
The Coalisland councillor spent last Thursday evening getting to know his newborn daughter who had made her entrance just hours earlier, at 3.55pm.
Ellie Mary Quinn is a first child for the Mid Ulster District Council representative and his wife Eimeir who were married last March.
Councillor Quinn is full of praise for the staff at Craigavon Area Hospital who cared for his wife and baby – while kitted out in full PPE gear because of coronavirus.
“The staff were absolutely brilliant, we felt completely safe. They explained everything that was happening,” he said.
